There typically isn't much of a wait for appointments. Most appointments can be made for the same day, or the following day depending on patient care hours, availability, and location preference. Online booking is available for both locations, with booking accepted until 1 hour before the appointment time. If trying to book within the hour cut off, please contact the office to book your appointment over the phone.
Appointments have always been strongly encouraged, however, due to the proliferation of COVID-19 appointments are required. If you are in the area and want an adjustment all that we ask is that you give us a call to ensure that Dr. Renee will be available.
There are a few different methods of adjusting the spine. The traditional method of performing an adjustment is manually, but some patients are uncomfortable with these adjustments or they are not tolerated well. In cases such as these, there are changes that can be made such as adjusting with an instrument, using a gravity drop assist, pelvic blocking, or other low force techniques that won't generate an audible release from the joint. Along with traditional spinal adjustments, adjustments can also be done on other joints in the body.
The first visit is traditionally characterized as a day of discovery, however, the decision to adjust on the first visit is made by the doctor on a case to case basis after the examination portion of the first visit is complete. Typically you will be booked for a report of findings where you will have your first adjustment after results are interpreted and the care plan is discussed.
The frequency of appointments is initially determined based on the exam findings, the results of the spinal scan, and Dr. Renee's professional experience. Through the course of your care plan, re-evaluations will dictate the decreases in your frequency with the ultimate goal of transitioning you to a wellness plan, or a "maintenance plan" that requires very few appointments. In order to get to this phase, a higher frequency of visits may be required initially, though this is not always the case. If you have any concerns about potential plans of care please speak to Dr. Renee.
After the initial visit, the progress of each patient will be reassessed periodically. Typically a re-evaluation is performed by Dr. Renee every 12 visits. Re-assessments must be performed within 24 visits as per College of Chiropractors of Ontario standards of practice.
It is recommended that you check with your insurance company to see if you have coverage for chiropractic. We do not directly bill extended benefits companies on behalf of the patient, however, we can provide you with an invoice that you can submit your invoice to your insurance company and be reimbursed if you do have coverage. It is also recommended that you check with your extended benefits about whether a medical referral is needed to have care covered.
There is no penalty for cancelling an appointment, all that we ask is that you give us a call to inform us that you no longer need the appointment. Patients who repeatedly no-show and do not inform the office that they no longer need the appointment may be subject to a no-show fee.
